Key takeaways

  • Our nine mini skid steers weigh 650–1,250 kg (1,433–2,756 lb). The lightest are the BL-T360-H and BL-S390-C; the heaviest is the BL-T1000-H.
  • Body widths run from 930 to 1,090 mm (36.6–42.9 in). Six of the nine are under 1,000 mm wide across the body.
  • The bucket is usually the widest part. Only the BL-T360-H, with a 906 mm bucket, fits a 1,000 mm opening with its bucket on.
  • Dump height runs from 1,340 to 1,826 mm, and working height from 1,600 to 2,230 mm.
  • A 20GP container takes about 6 of most models; a 40HQ takes about 22, or up to 30 of the BL-T360-H.

How much does a mini skid steer weigh?

A BOB-LIFT mini skid steer weighs between 650 kg (1,433 lb) and 1,250 kg (2,756 lb), depending on the model. That is the machine weight on each technical sheet. Add the weight of any attachment, fuel and the operator for the figure that a trailer, a floor or a ramp has to carry.

Model Machine weight Rated load Body width Length with bucket Overall height
BL-T360-H 650 kg (1,433 lb) 200 kg 930 mm 1,906 mm 1,226 mm
BL-S390-C 650 kg (1,433 lb) 260 kg 959 mm 2,281 mm 1,300 mm
BL-T460-H 730 kg (1,609 lb) 300 kg 1,090 mm 2,200 mm 1,267 mm
BL-T390-C 750 kg (1,653 lb) 250 kg 955 mm 2,281 mm 1,300 mm
BL-S490-C 850 kg (1,874 lb) 250 kg 1,089 mm 2,573 mm 1,300 mm
BL-T490-C 950 kg (2,094 lb) 250 kg 1,089 mm 2,573 mm 1,300 mm
BL-S750-H 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) 400 kg 985 mm 2,700 mm 1,550 mm
BL-T750-H 1,100 kg (2,425 lb) 410 kg 985 mm 2,836 mm 1,550 mm
BL-T1000-H 1,250 kg (2,756 lb) 500 kg 960 mm 2,691 mm 1,548 mm

Broadly, the heavier models are rated for more, but not always: the 950 kg BL-T490-C is rated 250 kg, the 730 kg BL-T460-H 300 kg. Across the range, the rated load is about 26% to 41% of the machine weight. A lighter machine is easier to move and tow; a heavier one is usually, but not always, rated for more.

Tracks add weight. Our three matched pairs show it: the tracked BL-T390-C is 100 kg heavier than the wheeled BL-S390-C, the BL-T490-C 100 kg heavier than the BL-S490-C, and the BL-T750-H 100 kg heavier than the BL-S750-H. Our tracked vs wheeled mini skid steer guide covers what you get for that weight.

Weight and ground pressure

Ground pressure is the machine’s weight divided by the area in contact with the ground (Wikipedia, “Ground pressure”, retrieved 2026-10-12). Two machines of the same weight can mark a lawn very differently, because rubber tracks spread the load over a longer contact patch than four tyres. That is why we suggest tracks for lawns, soft soil and slopes, and tyres for concrete, asphalt and paving. We do not publish ground pressure figures; if your site has a limit, for example a suspended floor or a sports pitch, ask us before you order.

Will it fit through my gate?

Six of our nine loaders are under 1,000 mm (39.4 in) wide across the body, and the widest body is 1,090 mm. But on eight of the nine models the standard bucket is wider than the body. With the bucket fitted, only the BL-T360-H passes a 1,000 mm opening: its body is 930 mm and its bucket 906 mm.

Body width against standard bucket width. The bucket sets the limit on every model except the BL-T360-H.

The gap can be large. The BL-T1000-H has a 960 mm body and a 1,240 mm bucket. The BL-T750-H and BL-S750-H have a 985 mm body and a 1,270 mm (50.0 in) bucket. A wider bucket moves more material per pass, but it is the figure your gate has to clear.

From the front, the BL-T1000-H bucket (1,240 mm) is clearly wider than its 960 mm body.

Three practical checks before you choose:

  1. Measure the narrowest point on the whole route, not just the gate: side passages, doorways, posts and ramps. Do not plan to the last millimetre; leave room for steering.
  2. Compare that figure with the wider of body and bucket. The bucket comes off the quick-attach plate, so the bare machine may pass where the bucket will not. Ask us for the width of the bare machine before you rely on that, and remember the bucket must then come through separately.
  3. Check the height too. Overall heights run from 1,226 mm on the BL-T360-H to 1,550 mm on the 750 models. Low doorways, garages and gate arches can matter as much as width.

The loaders page has a width checker where you set your narrowest opening; it shows which models pass, with and without the bucket.

Towing and trailers

To tow a mini skid steer, add the machine weight, the attachments you carry and the trailer’s own weight, then check the total against the trailer’s rating and the towing vehicle’s limit. Our machine weights run from 650 to 1,250 kg; attachment weights depend on the tool, so ask us for them when we quote.

Rules differ by country. As one example, GOV.UK says the gross train weight on a car’s VIN plate, the loaded car plus the loaded trailer, must not be exceeded, and that the maximum trailer width for any towing vehicle is 2.55 m. It also says drivers who passed their test from 1 January 1997 can tow a trailer of up to 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass (GOV.UK, Towing with a car, retrieved 2026-10-12). Check the rules where you drive.

On the trailer:

  • Lower the bucket or attachment to the deck and stop the engine before you secure the machine.
  • Strap down at the machine’s tie-down points, using straps or chains rated for the load.
  • Load the machine where the trailer maker advises, so the trailer sits level on the hitch.
  • Check the ramps are rated for the machine weight. Tracked models are heavier than their wheeled twins.

Lift height and dump height

Our loaders have a working height of 1,600 to 2,230 mm and a maximum dump height of 1,340 to 1,826 mm. Dump height is the one to check if you load into a truck, a skip or a hopper: the tipped bucket has to clear the side.

The BL-T750-H has the highest dump height in our range, 1,826 mm (71.9 in). For loads that must go higher, a high-dump bucket is one of the 26 attachments on our loaders page; we confirm which suit your model when we quote. Height with the arms raised also matters indoors: at full lift the BL-S750-H reaches 2,920 mm, so check ceilings, beams and doorways before you lift.

Shipping: how many fit in a container?

A 20GP container takes about 6 of most of our loaders, and a 40HQ about 22. In a 40HQ the 360 and 460 sizes fit more (about 30 and 24); the BL-T1000-H fits fewer in both (about 4 and 10). These figures come from our factory’s loading plans, with the standard bucket and no attachments.

Model 20GP 40HQ
BL-T360-H ≈ 6 ≈ 30
BL-T460-H ≈ 6 ≈ 24
BL-S390-C, BL-S490-C, BL-S750-H ≈ 6 ≈ 22
BL-T390-C, BL-T490-C, BL-T750-H ≈ 6 ≈ 22
BL-T1000-H ≈ 4 ≈ 10

The 40HQ figures use steel loading racks that carry a second tier of machines. Without racks, a 40HQ takes 15 of the 360 size or 13 of the 460 size. All of our loaders stand 1,226–1,550 mm tall, well under a typical container door aperture of about 2.26 m on a standard container and about 2.57 m on a high-cube (Wikipedia, “Intermodal container”, retrieved 2026-10-12).

Frequently asked questions

How much does a mini skid steer weigh?

Our mini skid steers weigh 650 kg (1,433 lb) to 1,250 kg (2,756 lb). The lightest are the BL-T360-H and BL-S390-C at 650 kg. The heaviest is the BL-T1000-H at 1,250 kg. Add attachments, fuel and the operator for a working total.

How wide is a compact mini skid steer?

Our models are 930 to 1,090 mm wide across the body. The standard buckets are 906 to 1,270 mm wide. The narrowest machine, with or without its bucket, is the BL-T360-H.

Can I take the bucket off to get through a narrow gate?

It can help. The bucket comes off the quick-attach plate, so the bare machine may pass where the bucketed machine will not. Ask us to confirm the width of the bare machine for your model, then bring the bucket through separately and refit it on the other side.

Which model has the highest dump height?

The BL-T750-H, at 1,826 mm. The BL-S750-H follows at 1,700 mm. For higher loading, ask about a high-dump bucket.

Planning your machine around your site

Start with three numbers: the narrowest opening on your route, the heaviest load per bucket and the height you need to tip into. Those decide the model more than anything else. If you are still choosing how to drive it, our stand-on vs seated mini skid steer guide covers the operator station.

Compare all nine models in our mini skid steer loader range, or send our team your measurements and a few photos of the route, and we will suggest a model.
